The US Strategic Disaster in the Middle East: Egypt
$60 Billion Down the Nile: Funding Egypt’s Pivot to China & Institutional Jew-Hatred
For decades, American policymakers have treated Egypt as a linchpin of Middle Eastern stability, funnelling over $60 billion in military aid since the 1979 Camp David Accords. This largesse—averaging $1.3 billion annually—was predicated on Cairo’s role as a moderating force and guardian of the Israeli-Egyptian peace treaty. Yet beneath the diplomatic facade lies a strategic catastrophe: the United States is bankrolling a regime whose military and national security apparatus are institutionally antisemitic, actively undermine Israeli security, US interests in the region and fuel regional instability—and, most recently, while pivoting to America’s adversaries.
I. The Illusion of Partnership: Aid Without Influence
The cornerstone of US policy—military aid as a tool for influence—has collapsed under Cairo’s hostility:
Conditionality Farce: In 2022, the Biden administration withheld a token $130 million over human rights concerns while approving a $2.5 billion arms sale days later. Egypt’s response? Accelerated diversification to Russian and Chinese suppliers.
Gas and Geopolitics: Though Egypt imports 60% of its gas from Israel, its state media blamed the 2025 export pause during the Iran war on a "Zionist-American conspiracy." While seeking alternatives from Qatar and reportedly Iran, Cairo explicitly rejected the idea that trade implies normalised relations with Israel. Prominent commentators, including those closes to President Sisi, blatantly claimed that Egypt merely exploits Israel.
II. Institutional Antisemitism: Doctrine and Indoctrination
Antisemitism is embedded in Egypt’s military and security infrastructure:
State-Sanctioned Antisemitism in Military Education: The fabricated Protocols of the Elders of Zion—a century-old antisemitic forgery thoroughly debunked by scholars—is institutionalised within Egypt’s Military curriculum. A senior general gifted me a copy, boasting he personally funded mass reprinting projects to distribute it widely. His sneering dismissal of U.S. relations—"You speak of closer ties with the US? Study this"—reveals how the text fuels state-sponsored anti-Western and anti-Israel radicalisation among Egypt’s military elite, who virtually run all aspects of government, including the intelligence community.
State-Sanctioned Incitement: Military academies frame the 1948–1973 wars as "battles against Zionist usurpers," while state-funded films depict Israelis as bloodthirsty colonisers and refer to Israel as the “Zionist entity”.
III. Active Hostility: Sabotaging Israeli and US Interests
Cairo systematically undermines regional security:
Hamas Enabler: Senior commentators and those closest to President Sisi often argue that Hamas represents a form of “strategic depth” for Egypt’s national security, asserting that Hamas is what stands between Israel and a Jewish “greater Israel” conspiracy theory, preventing the IDF from invading Sinai.
Pro-Iranian Gambits: During Israel’s 2025 war with Iran, the overwhelming majority of Egyptian commentators sided with Iran amidst seemingly warming ties as the Iranian foreign minister visited Cairo days before Israel launched its military campaign on June 13th.
Al-Azhar’s Jihadist Blessing: On 7 October 2023, Al Azhar, Egypt and the Sunni world's leading religious authority issued a statement where they “salute the resistance [Hamas]”. At a time when the US and the Sunni moderate coalition, led by the UAE and Saudi Arabia, who increasingly utilise religious diplomacy to promote peace and co-existence, were seeking de-escalation, Egypt’s state clergy promoted and legitimised terrorism, adding fuel to the fire.
IV. The Conflict Dividend: Egypt’s Chaos Economy
Cairo’s relevance hinges on perpetual crisis:
Domestic Diversion: Sisi’s popularity (eroded by a collapsing economy and the ensuing unprecedented poverty) surged when he positioned himself as an anti-imperialist, defender of Palestinians.
Economic Blackmail: Egypt demanded billions in Gulf investments for Gaza’s reconstruction, insisting funds flow through state-linked Egyptian firms—notably the Organi Group, whose monopolistic control over Sinai-Gaza border logistics has drawn corruption allegations. This stance intensified tensions with Saudi Arabia and the UAE, which conditioned financial support on excluding Hamas from governance and implementing anti-corruption oversight.
V. Anti-American Incitement and Betrayal
Egypt actively undermines US allies:
Gulf Shaming Campaign: Amidst increasing tensions ahead of the Israeli and US strikes against Iran, Egyptian state-aligned social media influencers flooded social media with millions of tweets branding Saudi Arabia, the UAE and GCC countries as US puppets and protectorates without armies.
Strategic Abdications:
Refused US-Trump requests to get involved in the anti-Houthi military coalition.
Absence from the Saudi-led, anti-Houthis 2015 Operation Decisive Storm and refusal to join the 2023 Gulf Shield manoeuvres.
In the above video, titled, “the end of Camp David”, General Samir Farag, a retired Major General in the Egyptian Army with a career spanning key infantry and intelligence roles, closely linked to President Sisi, makes a few claims:
The US orchestrated the 25 January 2011 uprising that led to the ouster of President Mubarak.
The US ended the rule of Bashar Al Asad and replaced him with Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa.
In the below video, featuring an interview with the same outlet, Al Nahar News, Farag reveals “what the Egyptian Army has in hiding for Israel and its allies”. The video shows Israel on a map as a potential threat to Egypt.
VI. Pivot to the Axis of Resistance
Cairo’s realignment is unambiguous:
Chinese Military Inroads: The "Eagles of Civilisation" joint drills (June 2025) featured advanced Chinese hardware, including J-10C fighters and Y-20 transports, signalling deepening Sino-Egyptian military integration.
Infrastructure Evidence: Satellite imagery shows China expanding Egypt’s Ras Banas naval base— potentially creating a future hub for the People's Liberation Army (PLA) near the US Fifth Fleet's headquarters. China's expanding infrastructure at Egypt’s Ras Banas naval base confirms strategic collaboration enabled by U.S.-funded Egyptian stability. This expansion, including the construction of new buildings, is raising concerns about China's growing military presence in the region, introduced and enabled by Sisi’s Egypt.
VII. The Path Forward: Strategic Realignment
The US must confront hard truths:
Condition Aid on Antisemitism Purges: Freeze funds until Protocols are removed from military curricula and inciting officers are issued clear orders: stop or leave the army.
Redirect Billions: Shift $500 million to Jordanian cyber-defences and Gulf naval forces.
Leverage Suez Dependency: Threaten WTO sanctions unless Egypt permits permanent US warship basing in the Canal Zone.
Feeding the crocodile: The $1.3 billion annual aid package now bankrolls Cairo’s axis with Beijing and, if not for the Israeli and American strikes, Tehran. Every Abrams tank given to Egypt menaces Israel; every dollar funds textbooks teaching Zionism is a Satanic plot. This isn’t strategy—it is strategic suicide.
Final Assessment: Egypt exploits US aid to fuel anti-Western hatred, empower China, and sanctify terrorism—all while its generals study the Protocols and its clerics bless massacres. Until Washington abandons this charade, its Middle East policy will remain a self-inflicted disaster.
However, the clock is ticking……(more on this soon)!
They gonna build the railroads & superhighways across Saudi & Jordan & Israel to make the Suez Canal obsolete.
